Welcome to this Toppa course featuring Special Boat Service veteran Tony Hayes.
Tony Hayes was a Royal Marine Commando prior to successfully completing Special Forces Selection, and went on to join the UK Special Forces, namely the Special Boat Service (SBS). Tony conducted three combat tours of Afghanistan whilst serving with the SBS. Tony is now the owner of a Strength and Conditioning company, SF1 Strength Ltd, and is the inventor of the company’s flagship product, The SF1 suspension trainer. Tony has been through the business validation stage for SF1 in detail and shares his top tips and advice for those going through the same process.
“Why should you validate the business idea? When exploring new business or product concepts, it is important to test your ideas early in the development stage. Validation is not relevant only to potential entrepreneurs and future start-ups. When it comes to existing companies, they also need to prove the concept of the initial business idea. They will need to validate their ideas to analyse their potential impact on the organisation’s goals. I have been through the business validation process with my product the SF1 Suspension Trainer.
I have found that most Entrepreneurs keep their ideas only to themselves. They are afraid that if anyone hears about their business ideas, they will use them to create their company and will succeed. If you keep your ideas only for yourself, you cannot validate them. If you don’t validate them, you will probably fail or spend a lot of time and money developing a business that hasn’t got a customer base. Now, let’s start with practical steps you will need to take to validate your business idea.”
